As I was on my home today I was thinking about how much I truly enjoy what I do.  I love working with each horse, helping each individual with their own unique challenges and am grateful for the lessons that each one has to teach me.  It's always fun running into clients and hearing how their horse is doing, any changes that they've noticed or how they did in their last lesson or show.  I am very lucky to have such wonderful clients, both the 4 legged type as well as the 2 legged type that own them!

Fall 2012

As the leaves are starting to change color, my family and I are entering into all the hectic activity that is harvest.  During September, and possibly into October, I will be booking appointments in the mornings only.  For those who are flexible we can wait for a rainy day, or the day after one.  I will also be away taking more courses from September 13-15, as well as September 27th to October 6th.  I appreciate everyone's understanding as I do my best to make sure everyone gets looked after!

Important Information For All Animal Owners

The Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (ABVMA) will be attempting to provide direction to the Government of Alberta again this year to amend the Veterinary Profession Act (VPA) in an effort to control and regulate all Alternative/Complimentary Therapies. This action WILL exempt the majority of Alternative/Complimentary Therapists, making it illegal for them to work, and WILL greatly affect your rights as an Animal Owner.

Please take the time to become a member of the AAAOR and educate yourself on the issues at hand by visiting the website at www.aaaor.ca. Get involved, have your voice heard and help to inform others of this potential threat to our freedom of choice.

Animal Owner's:
$10/year Individual Membership (a human person, who shall be entitled to have one vote at any meeting of the members, attend all meetings for members, be entitled to hold office in the Association and be elected as a Director and enjoy all benefits of the Association.) As a member you will have access to Related Current Events, Documents (including the 2011 ABVMA Proposed Resolutions), Practioners/Business Listings, AAAOR Schedule of Events and Newsletters. Your $10 Membership fee will go towards Association costs, website fee's and will assist us in public awareness endeavors.

Practitioner's or Businesses:
$100/ year Corporate/Business (a body corporate, government or governmental agency and shall be entitled to one vote for its corporate membership at any meeting of the members, shall be entitled to designate in writing, from time to time, three individuals employed by it who shall be entitled to hold office in the Association, attend all meetings of the members unless they are the voting nominee of their Corporate Member.) In addition to the benefits of the Individual Membership, your Corporate/Business membership will also allow you to: advertise your services on the Practitioner's/Business Listings Page, add a testimonial for you therapy on the Success Stories Page and add any pertinent links related to your business on the Link's and Resources Page.

Please visit the website and find the AAAOR on Facebook.

New Stuff!

Well it's kind of scary that it's now December 1st...I'm still waiting for summer to arrive!

This fall has been busy though, harvest went well. I completed my externship for the EQ 100 course that I took through Equinology Inc last spring. I got news that I passed the externship as well so I'm now certified as an EEBW. In November I took two more courses with Equinology Inc., their Advanced Massage Techniques and The Principles of Saddle Fitting and Shoeing Dynamics. So now I have two more externships to work on, but I'm very excited about using the new techniques and implementing saddle fitting into my work. If anyone is interested in learning more about Equinology, you can check out the link to their home page on my site.

Hope everyone has a joyous and wonderful holiday season!

Sturgeon Valley Pony Club

I'd like to thank the Sturgeon Valley Pony Club for having me out to do a talk. It was a great group with lots of good questions, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Also, I'm still planning a trip to the Hinton area before the end of the month. I have a few appointments booked but still have room for more if anyone is interested.

Hope everyone is enjoying summer!

Trip West and Upcoming Talk

I am planning a trip to the Hinton and Brule area sometime during the second week of August and have some openings for appointments. If anyone is interested please get in touch.

I'm also looking forward to doing a talk for the Thorhild 4H group tomorrow.

Note on the picture: This was a mare of mine...she is standing square on level ground. She used to swap leads behind constantly and drove me crazy...now I know why! After I worked on her once and got her pelvis straight she quit swapping.

Welcome to my blog!

First off I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of my clients for welcoming me into their yards and barns to work on their horses. I also appreciate the many referrals that have been given out.

I plan to use my blog to keep people posted on when I will be in a certain area and if I have openings for appointments. I also want to let people know about any upcoming events or talks that I'm doing, as well as any exciting news.

I hope everyone's been having a great summer!

Thanks,

Jody
